The area involved in this project, though partially abandoned, is of particular environmental interest. Rather than pose a barrier to the project, levees along its borders both upstream and along the Borro del Vicariato River stimulated research for an approach that would provide an opening onto the surrounding countryside as well as connections to the built area.

The proximity of the area in question to the Canonica Park, with its rich trail system, led to consideration of a simple connection directly to the park itself.

The development of the final project was opened for bids for the construction of infrastructure and primary urban works.
