Work on this project involved the creation of four hundred living units in a range of dimensions in a series of four C-shaped buildings that open out onto two rectangular piazzas accessible to the public. Walking paths lead to the residential entrances.
The buildings emphasize a visual “opening” represented by the courtyards and piazzas with generous perspectives enhanced by open galleries in exposed brick and attic spaces large enough to provide a panoramic view from the upper floors. The emerging sections of the building are delineated with reinforced concrete cornices that protect the plasterwork below. Detailing in the roofing allows natural ventilation and lighting of the accessible attic.
